The Area: Balatonkenese
Balatonkenese lies on the northeastern corner of Lake Balaton, 100 km southwest of Budapest, on the Kenesei high bank. It has a very special location among the Balaton towns, being neither purely a southern nor a northern shore resort.

From the high bank - especially from the Soós-hegy lookout - and from much of the immediate lakeside, the entire eastern basin of Lake Balaton is clearly visible all the way to the Tihany peninsula.
